Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered multiple other marked vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any harm in association with the event," they added.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for information.
An important official said the incident made him stunned and had to be solved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
